Overview
The IBM eserver i5 550 is the newest member of the iSeries(TM) POWER5(TM) processor-based family of servers. The 550 is a 1/4-way server providing up to 12,000 Commercial Processing Workload (CPW).
Advanced virtualization technologies enable eServer® i5 servers to run multiple operating systems and application environments simultaneously. These include IBM i5/OS V5R3 (the next generation of OS/400®), Linux(TM) for POWER(TM), AIX® 5L, Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) Server (via IXA or IXS), WebSphere®, and Lotus® Domino(TM) software, making the 550 the perfect workload consolidation box.
Simply activate a processor to add the capacity you need to complement your i5/OS applications with applications running on other operating systems without requiring additional servers.
eServer i5 550 provides many Capacity on Demand options. You
