Gefran Announces MX4 Series of ATEX Approved Intrinsically Safe Pressure Transmitters and Redesigned Explosion-Proof Pressure Transmitter Series With Expanded FM Approval Ratings

Winchester, MA, August 15, 2005 - - - Gefran ISI, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Gefran Spa, a leading manufacturer of sensors and control instrumentation for process automation and control, announces some changes to its family of intrinsically safe pressure transmitters. Gefran has released its new MX4 Series of melt pressure transmitters, which meet ATEX intrinsic safety standards for operation in potentially explosive atmospheres. In addition, the company's redesigned MF Series of FM-approved explosion-proof pressure transmitters offer improved performance characteristics, new features and expanded approval classifications.

Gefran's new MX4 Series of melt pressure transmitters has been specifically designed and produced in compliance with ATEX standards for operation in explosive atmospheres with presence of gases, fumes or mists. The MX4 Series features an accuracy of up to ±0.25% for precise pressure measurement. Available pressure ranges are from 0-360 psi up to 0-30,000 psi. Its 4 to 20 mA loop - powered output enables direct link to DCS or computer systems. Configurations include models with a rigid or flexible rod length and a flange stem design for easy installation and thermal isolation. Other mounting configurations are also available to accomodate special applications, and all models are interchangeable with existing products. MX4 features a rugged 15-5 PH stainless steel sensing diaphragm that is armoloy coated for durability, and a 17-7 PH corrugated stainless steel diaphragm with Titanium Nitride coating for maximum durability in applications at pressure ranges below 1500 psi. Both 6-pin and 8-pin electrical connectors are offered, with the 6-pin connector model providing IP65 protection.

Gefran's popular MF Series of explosion-proof pressure transmitters carries expanded Factory Mutual certified approval ratings. The MF Series is now rated for operation in areas categorized Class 1, Division 1, Group A, in addition to Class 1, Division 1, Groups B, C and D. In addition, these approvals were extended to wider range of MF Series transmitters including the R-Cal version, models with M10 & M14 mounting threads, the exposed capillary configuration models MF3 and WF3, and the company's oil-filled WFX Series models. Gefran's transmitters also received a new dust ignition-proof rating for Class 2, Division 1, Groups E, F and G.

Design enhancements to the MF Series have resulted in a dramatic improvement of the temperature performance in the transmitter's electronics housing. Zero drifts are now at a maximum of 1.0%FS/100F and sensitivity drifts at a maximum of 1.0%FS/100F; compared to drifts of 2.0%FS/100F for each respectively prior to the transmitter redesign. Gefran's MF Series redesign also increased the maximum operating pressure range from 10,000 psi to 30,000 psi for all mercury filled models, providing users with greater application flexibility. A new, easily accessible side-mounted zero and span adjustment offers greater convenience in the field.

ABOUT GEFRAN
GEFRAN was founded in the 1970s. Today, the GEFRAN Group is a leading supplier in the field of automation and process control of plastics processing machinery for extrusion and injection molding.

GEFRAN ISI Inc., located in Winchester, Massachusetts, is the group's North American headquarters and manufacturing base. Formerly Industrial Sensors Inc. (ISI), the company joined the GEFRAN Group in 1999 bringing more than 25 years of expertise in the development and manufacturing of melt pressure transducers and instrumentation for extrusion processing. GEFRAN SPA is located in Italy and is the GEFRAN Group's headquarters and primary manufacturing facility. Manufacturing operations in both France and Brazil, and GEFRAN companies in Germany, UK, Switzerland and The Netherlands support GEFRAN SPA.

Today, GEFRAN manufactures complete control systems as well as components such as temperature and pressure indication and control instrumentation; temperature, position, melt and industrial pressure sensors; solid-state relays; humidity sensors and load cells. In addition to plastics processing, GEFRAN's instruments and integrated systems are used in a wide range of industrial automation and process control applications. With its July 2003 acquisition of Siei, a leading manufacturer of motion control products, the GEFRAN Group now employs more than 700 people and has yearly sales of about $130 million dollars worldwide.
