SMD Introduces Improved Pressure Sensor for Pressure Transducers

Strain Measurement Devices, Inc. has announced the development of the P571 pressure sensor, a high stability, small diameter, stainless steel pressure sensor intended for use in pressure transducers and other OEM pressure measurement applications. Its thin-film metal strain gauge circuit enables a long-term stability of better than 0.1% per year. Options include Hastelloy(TM), 500 Vac insulation resistance, an optional integral sputtered thin-film Ni RTD, as well as various specifications on Zero TC and Span TC. The sensor's wide range reaches from 100 psi to 10K psi, with temperature up to 200°C. The sensor features an all stainless steel wetted surface.

The unique design of the P571 can be used with an infinite variety of pressure fittings which can be supplied by SMD or provided by the user. Ideal for pressure transducers and transmitters as well as other pressure measurement applications including process control, hydraulic systems, general industrial, down-hole, pressure calibrators, aerospace, automotive, valves, safety equipment, and more. Key specifications include <0.08% per year drift, 10,000 ohm bridge, 0.02% repeatability, <<0.03%/°C TCO uncalibrated, and 500 Vac dielectric.

Established in 1979, SMD is devoted exclusively to the design and manufacture of custom and standard thin film strain gauged sensors for the medical, OEM transducer, instrumentation, and measurement markets. Supplying leading-edge sensor technology to transducer manufacturers by producing thin film sensing elements and sub-assemblies to integrate into finished products, the SMD engineering and development staff support product design, shortened development cycles, and provide production engineered solutions involving force and pressure sensors.

SMD's recently improved website, www.smdsensors.com offers specifying engineers and buyers a colorful, comprehensive, interactive site featuring a complete selection of stock and customized force and pressure sensors.

Photographs, schematic drawings and comprehensive details about each model, including applications, special features and key specifications are conveniently available. A four-page capabilities brochure can be requested by e-mail.
