Original Press Release:

Ultra Precision Scales Use New Surface Acoustic Wave Technology

E. ROCKAWAY, NY ....... Patented, all digital SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) Technology has been harnessed to provide an order of magnitude improvement in industrial weighing equipment. Exceedingly small displacement values can be detected using parallel SAW transducers. As compared with the industry standard strain gage load sensors, SAW scales offer 10 times the accuracy at a similar cost. Applications include formulation, parts counting, pharmaceuticals and general weighing.

An important additional advantage is that the load sensors may be designed for significantly lower strain. This allows for safety overload factors that are 5 times greater. SAW scales provide unprecedented ruggedness, shock resistance, and tolerance to abuse.

Among the first models introduced, the SAW-T, has a capacity of 25 lb, a readability of 0.0002 lb (12,000 g x 0.1 g), a 12" x 16" stainless steel platform, a graphics indicator with large 1" high digits, and an introductory cost of $1099.
