PPK Parus: First KBA Rapida 75 in Kazakhstan

Five-colour press in operation in Almaty

Kazakhstan’s first Rapida 75 went live on 6 March at PPK Parus in Almaty. The company, which was founded in 1992, is one of the leading board printers for the food-processing industry in Kazakhstan. It specialises in packaging for confectionery, disposable cutlery, napkins and other confectionary supplies made out of plastic and board. PPK Parus also produces commercial products, such as forms, labels, stickers and flyers.

Previously the company printed on presses from other German manufacturers, but all this changed when the company opted for a Rapida 75. Their decision was based on KBA technology which is well-known amongst other printing companies for its production of high-quality printed products. What is more Eastern Trading House, KBA’s sales partner, offers on-site service whereas other suppliers are withdrawing from Kazakhstan. The five-colour Rapida 75 was installed in a new production hall, which added 3,500m² to the company’s production space. The B2 press is equipped with a board-handling capability, nonstop facilities at the feeder and delivery, central format adjustment, ErgoTronic ACR colour registration as well as ErgoTronic ColorDrive colour control.

As a full-service print provider PPK Parus, located close to Almaty’s city centre, produces seven days a week with two shifts a day. The company even manufacturers punching tools in-house. Along with its printing business, PPK Parus also sells consumables with a sales subsidiary in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana.

Kazakhstan is a typical market for half-format sheetfed presses, a market predominantly dominated by Japanese manufacturers in the past. The new compact Rapida 75 with its good print quality, high level of substrate flexibility as well as low energy consumption has already sparked the interest of the country’s other printing companies. KBA is confident that soon further orders of this press type will follow in Kazakhstan. In 2012 a high-performance medium-format Rapida 106 joined three existing Rapidas at book and textbook printer Polygraphcombinat in Almaty.
