Powerwave Technologies Introduces Integrated Remote Electrical Tilt Antenna Platform

By integrating RET functionality under the antenna radome, the platform maximizes functionality while minimizing visual impact

CTIA WIRELESS 2007, ORLANDO, Fla., Booth #2163, March 27, 2007 - Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global source for end-to-end wireless infrastructure solutions, introduced its integrated Remote Electrical Tilt (i-RET) antenna platform today at CTIA Wireless 2007, the world's largest event for the wireless industry.

The i-RET antenna platform is the next-generation in Powerwave's growing line-up of RET antenna products. Supporting the 1710MHz to 2170MHz frequency bands currently served by its expansive antenna family, Powerwave's i-RET also extends coverage to include WiMAX frequency bands operating within the 2300 MHz to 2700 MHz range.

Powerwave strives to offer wireless infrastructure solutions that support our customers in improving network performance and lowering costs, said David Quinn, Vice President, Base Station Systems Product Unit, Powerwave Technologies. With the introduction of the i-RET antenna platform we have not only achieved these objectives, but we have also brought to market a state-of-the-art solution that enables our customers to leverage next-generation wireless technologies, today.

Powerwave's next-generation high broadband i-RET antennas and i-RET WiMAX antennas, which will be on display here at CTIA Wireless 2007, offer several unique benefits including manual tilt functionality, extended and shifted tilt range and high flexibility with support for 3GPP and multi-standard controls. The new i-RET antennas also include absolute position sense, a feature that allows resumption of calibrated antenna tilt measurement and control after loss of power without re-calibrating the antenna.

With fewer equipment requirements, the i-RET antenna platform is low maintenance, easy to install, service and upgrade in the field; and, is robust and reliable with minimal moving parts. These features serve to reduce site costs by lowering operational expenses when compared to external RET solutions. Additionally, the i-RET platform expertly addresses aesthetic and environmental concerns through a discrete, yet functional design.

Powerwave's i-RET antenna platform, leverages the quality and performance inherent in Powerwave's full line-up of broadband antennas, including the ability to survive wind speeds of up to 156 miles per hour. It features pre-mounted brackets for easy installation and guaranteed passive intermodulation performance, which improves signal quality and reduces dropped calls that often occur due to interference from other frequency band emissions.
