Powerful Software Tool Leads the Way for Hamlet at Video Forum

At Video Forum (7 - 9 February 2006) Hamlet will feature the Vidscope-vx, a powerful video test and measurement system running entirely in software. Vidscope-vx runs from a USB memory stick, so users can freely move their software from computer to computer.

The software provides comprehensive quality monitoring tools, including waveform monitoring, vectorscope and colour gamut error checking. The Windows application provides a video monitor as well as the measurement displays, with gamut errors indicated by sparkling highlights on screen. A safe area generator is included, and the DV and HDV versions can control a camera via Firewire.

Because test results are captured for later analysis, the Vidscope-vx can also be used to automatically process content which arrives as a file rather than as baseband video, making it ideal for conformance checking as well as rushes logging. Professional versions are available for standard definition and HD SDI streams, compatible with all PC video capture cards. The DV version is also available as a download from www.hamlet.co.uk.

"With Vidscape-vx we have taken all our experience in test and measurement and implemented it in software which makes it extremely cost-effective," explained Steve Nunney, director of Hamlet. "This is a real, professional toolkit delivering practical and precise measurements, at a remarkable price.

"We will be showing Vidscope-vx at Video Forum along with the rest of our range, including the extremely successful Flexiscope," Nunney continued. "We have plans for a series of major announcements based on our Flexiscope platform during the year, and visitors to our stand can talk to us about future products too."

Hamlet can be found on stand 264 within the TV Technology section at Video Forum.

Formally established in 1986, Hamlet Video International Limited is dedicated to the design, manufacture and supply of innovative, high quality, cost effective equipment to the video and broadcast industry worldwide, with concentration currently on both digital and analogue video and audio test and measurement equipment.

Hamlet manufactures a complete range of waveform/vectorscopes, including rack mount, stand alone, PCB and portable units for studio, EFP/ENG, editing, telecine, duplication, desk top video applications and more.

All Hamlet test measurement devices are designed without dedicated cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and therefore do not suffer from the problems associated with CRT devices. Hamlet units digitally generate the traces along with the associated graticules for display on any standard monitor either digital or analogue. Thus the signal may be routed at the users convenience to any suitably placed viewing monitor.

Hamlet continues to develop and design devices suitable for all areas of television production with excellence in vision.
