Sola/Hevi-Duty Extends SDN Series of Industrial-grade Power Supplies With 3-Phase Input, 20-Amp Model
ROSEMONT, IL, April 27, 2004 Sola/Hevi-Duty is offering its new SDN20-24-480, a 3-phase input 24VDC DIN Rail Mount Power Supply. Combining affordability with a compact footprint the SDN20-24-480 is an ideal solution for space-critical industrial control, process control, machine control and DeviceNet(TM) applications, as well as general cost reduction programs.
The SDN20-24-480 rounds out Sola-Hevi-Duty's SDN line of industrial grade power supplies offering system designers greater choice, more versatile features, and the highest reliability with products ranging from 2.5A to 40A.
Althought the SDN-24-480 is similar in price to a conventional single-phase power supply, it does not require the associated expense of installing or wiring external fuses and a control transformer. Fuses are integrated on the primary side of the SDN-24-480 to protect the power supply, while the secondary side is protected by an integrated fuse mode that also safeguards the applications behind. In the event of a continuous overload for longer than five seconds, the fuse mode will activate to switch off the power supply, while simultaneously triggering a blinking LED to alert the user.
Unlike with competitive models, the SDN-24-480 allows the user to turn output on again without disconnecting the input AC, thanks to its easy-front panel reset.
In addition, the fuse mode can be disabled via a jumper on the front panel. This sets the output in PowerBoost(tm) mode, allowing output overloads and short circuits without shutdown of the supply by continuously delivering up to 150% of the nominal current.
The SDN-24-480 gets high marks for its compact size. Measuring a mere 4.88" x 8.94" x 4.04" (W x H x D), it is one of the smallest power supplies in its class.
