Original Press Release:

Force Optical Broadcast Systems Introduces SNMP Monitoring and Control Over Optical Fiber for Satellite L-Band and IF Inter-facility Links and Broadcast HDTV Video Links

Christiansburg VA - February 2005 - Force Optical Broadcast Systems has expanded its state-of-the-art SNMP monitoring and control product line. Originally introduced for use with the 3000 Series Long Range L-Band and IF transport links, Force now offers the option to the complete L-Band and IF transport product line as well as the HDTVLinx Model 3753 Serial Digital Video Link.

Available in the 3000 Series 3RU rack chassis configuration, the Models 3000UB (110 Volts AC) and 3000UD (-48 Volts DC) SNMP-compatible Power Supplies allow the user to access real time data for such parameters as module serial number and part number, system uptime, firmware revision, and fault status over optical fiber or Cat5 cabling. Other monitoring capabilities such as RF level status, link-gain settings, optical status, optical input power, and optical output power are available depending on the transport link. Some system settings can be remotely controlled using the SNMP interface, giving the user the ability to detect system failures and correct operating parameters for optimum performance, all via an SNMP management tool.

Standardized Connectivity Works with Most Networks

The SNMP-compatible Power Supplies interface with a PC using a standard 9-Pin serial cable for local configuration of the IP address and the SNMP agent. Internet connections use an RJ-45 connector standard for most LAN connections. A simple configuration utility allows the user to determine the monitoring and reporting capabilities of the power supplies.
