New Power Switches from Tyco Electronics Rock
HARRISBURG, Pa., September 27 - Tyco Electronics today introduced a new line of power rocker switches. The new line consists of three switch sizes. Each size fits into different industry standard panel cutouts (13x19, 14x28.5 and 25x28.5 all dimensions in millimeters). Within each size, a number of options are available including, a variety of termination methods, illumination, single/double pole capability, and special markings. Further, the switches are dust resistant and available with secondary rocker colors. Applications for these switches include commercial food handling and storage equipment, vacuums, welding equipment and office equipment. Additionally, these switches are suitable for power tools, instrumentation, industrial controls, medical equipment, lighting and small appliances.
Most of these switches are rated for 16A at 125 VAC (1/3 HP). The switch will handle capacitive loads of up to 50A for 3 milli-seconds.
The actuation force ranges between 150g and 1250g depending on which size is used. Each switch has an actuation force range of 400g. Mechanical cycle life is rated to exceed 100,000 cycles.
The housing is molded from nylon and the rocker is available in either nylon or polycarbonate. Contacts are silver-tin oxide and the active contactor terminals are silver plated copper alloy.
Pricing for a 13xl9 power rocker switch single pole, single throw with or without markings is $.29 each at the 25,000 piece quantity level. Deliveries are approximately 8-10 weeks.
