Screw Termination Helps Enhance Design Flexibility on General Purpose Relay

HARRISBURG, PA. - May 14 - Tyco Electronics, a business segment of Tyco International, Ltd recently expanded its POTTER & BRUMFIELD product line with the addition of the two-pole, 30 amp, T92 series power relay. A flange mount, screw terminal version of the relay is now available. Other models already in this series include a printed circuit board type and a flange-mounted version with quick connect termination. Screw termination gives engineers one more alternative when considering new power switching designs.

M4 screws with captive pressure plates are provided for coil and load connections on this new model. This relay may find application in many different industries where screws are the preferred method of connection. It could be used to switch pump, motor, compressor, heater or lamp loads in a variety of industrial controls, commercial and building equipment and other applications.

The screw terminal T92 provides 2 Form A (DPST-NO) silver-cadmium oxide contacts for load switching. Contact ratings for this version mirror those of other models in the series. Contacts are rated for maximum loads of 30 amps, resistive, at 120/277 VAC or 20 amps at 28VDC. Additional ratings include 1 HP at 120 VAC, 3 HP at 240 VAC, and 1.5 HP at 480 or 600 VAC. The relay also carries pilot duty, FLA/LRA and TV contact ratings.

Various models of this enclosed relay are offered for operation on a range of AC and DC coil voltages. UL Class F (155 deg. C) construction is utilized, and the relay meets UL94V-0 flammability standards.

T92 series relays demonstrate excellent dielectric strength. Initial breakdown between contacts and coil is 4,000V rms, 50/60 Hz. It is 1,500V rms, 50/60 Hz., between open contacts, and between poles it is 2,000V rms, 50/60 Hz.

A screw-terminal T92 series relay with a 24 VDC coil (T92P7D52-24 / 1423967-1) is priced at $3.64 in 10,000 piece quantities. Lead-time is typically 10-12 weeks.
