Power Quality Monitor supports up to 8 channels of inputs.

Press Release Summary:

Portable data acquisition and analysis recorder, Dash 8Xe, captures 8 channels of data to 36 Gb internal drive at fixed sample rate of 6,250 Hz. In transient mode, high-speed glitches and other anomalies are captured at sample rate of 200 kHz/channel. Utilizing AstroPower(TM) Monitoring Software, various power events, such as interrupts, swells, sags, harmonics, unbalance, and power factor can be recorded and reviewed with real-time and post-capture data analysis.

Original Press Release:

Portable 8-Channel Power Quality Monitor and Recording System

A powerful new portable data acquisition and analysis recorder, engineered specifically for power quality analysis, has been introduced by Astro-Med, Inc. Designated the Dash 8Xe, the unit supports up to 8 channels of inputs for single and three phase power monitoring applications. Utilizing custom AstroPower(TM) Monitoring Software for power analysis, various power events, such as interrupts, swells, sags, harmonics, unbalance and power factor can be recorded and reviewed, with both real-time and post-capture data analysis.

The Dash 8Xe captures 8 channels of data to internal hard drive at a fixed sample rate of 6,250 Hz, which permits harmonic analysis up to the 50th harmonic while maximizing the duration of an acquisition stored on the hard drive. In Transient Mode, high speed glitches and other anomalies are captured at a sample rate of 200 kHz per channel.

The Dash 8Xe can log events in parallel with data recording. Event types that can be logged include power interrupts, sags, swells, transients, frequency deviations, total harmonic distortion, individual harmonic, individual interharmonic and unbalance. In addition, events such as power factor, absolute power, active power and reactive power can also be logged.

Equipped with a 15" diagonal monitor for intuitive touch-screen control and real-time data viewing and analysis, the graphical user interface of the Dash 8Xe is optimized for ease of use. Simple menus permit the user to set most parameters using button and checkbox controls. The Dash 8Xe includes a 36 GByte internal hard drive for capturing data, and the system is built into a compact, rugged case for field or lab use. Operating on either 120 or 240 VAC, the Dash 8Xe includes a capacitive backup to ensure proper shutdown without data corruption if power is lost.

The Dash 8Xe provides the user with a real-time display and analysis of data. Parameters such as RMS voltage, RMS current, power and harmonic information can be displayed in real-time, along with phase diagrams and phase displays. Up to 88 hours of continuous recording can be saved directly to hard drive for later review and analysis.

Hundreds of transients or glitches can be recorded to hard drive, making the Dash 8Xe ideal for troubleshooting intermittent or evasive problems.

The Dash 8Xe software allows the user to open a previously captured data file for review and analysis. A user can also scroll through the record to find specific points of interest.

The Dash 8Xe is ideally suited for applications in power generation, substations, electric utility, and other industrial applications requiring power quality monitoring. With operation from and monitoring of both 50 and 60 Hz power, the Dash 8Xe is well suited for use throughout the world.

Prices for the Dash 8Xe start at $12,000. It is available 4 weeks ARO. More information about the Dash 8Xe can be obtained from Astro-Med, Inc., Test and Measurement Product Group, Astro-Med Industrial Park, W. Warwick RI 02893.
