KJT Introduces First Web-Enabled System for Single-Point Power Quality Monitoring

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. January 9, 2003 Kreiss Johnson Technologies (KJT), a leading developer of power quality and energy management solutions in San Diego, California, today launches SOLO(TM), the industry's first Internet-enabled system for single-point and portable power quality monitoring. SOLO transforms power quality monitor data into Internet-accessible answers, giving small- to mid-size industrial and commercial companies complete, up-to-the-minute information on energy use, cost, and power quality, including trends.

David Kreiss, KJT's founder and president, summarizes, "Up to now, power quality managers have needed a high level of expertise to program the monitor and its associated software and manually download and review voluminous amounts of data. With SOLO, the entire process is automatic." SOLO collects and analyzes power quality monitor data and instantly notifies facility managers of problems via e-mail, page, or the Internet including diagnoses and solutions. Armed with this information, companies can increase uptime and reduce energy costs.

A Fortune 500 energy service provider in Southern California has successfully utilized SOLO to shed light on power quality problems. An undisclosed manager comments, "With SOLO we are finally able to correlate a plant shutdown with an external power quality event. We can now fix the problem, save the customer money, and improve yield."

Within minutes of detecting a power quality event, SOLO completes an artificial intelligence-based analysis to determine the severity of the disturbance, its source, affected equipment, and an industry-recommended solution. Facility managers can further analyze power quality and energy from any standard Web browser with SOLO's sophisticated, yet easy-to-use tools. Web-based, interactive charts enable engineers to analyze power quality events, identify energy wastes, and reduce usage during peak demand periods.

SOLO is a complete power quality management system, which includes two years of comprehensive service, access to a secure Web page, analysis software hosted by KJT, a high-end power quality monitor, and current transformers.
