Power Meter measures RF using DC substitution technology.

Press Release Summary:

Model 1804 Single Type IV RF Power Meter is designed for use with bolometer elements and external DVM to measure high frequency or microwave power. Substituted DC power levels ranging from 10 mW to 30 mW can be measured to within ±0.003%. Front panel switch selects operating resistance for power meter. Bolometer current meter and fault LED indicator illuminates under any condition preventing loop balance. Power meter is designed to bias either 100 or 200 ohm mounts.

Tegam's Model 1804 Single Type IV RF Power Meter

GENEVA, OH - November 1, 2002 - TEGAM, Inc. today announced the availability of its Model 1804 Single Type IV RF Power Meter, measuring RF power using DC substitution technology. The Model 1804 is a low cost spin-off of TEGAM's popular Model 1806 RF Power Meter and is designed for use with bolometer elements (mounts) and an external DVM to measure high frequency or microwave power. It also functions as a standard for the calibration of bolometer mounts, RF detectors, RF voltmeters, and for precision insertion loss measurements. RF Mounts that are not temperature compensated will easily interface to the 1804's universal front panel binding post connection. Temperature compensated Mounts require the addition of a TEGAM Model 1820 RF Mount Heater.

FEATURES

o Directly traceable to primary voltage and resistance standards
o Bias either 100 or 200 ohm mounts
o LED and Analog Meters are conveniently located on the front panel
o Economical, easy to use, compact and light weight
o One-year warranty

The exclusive use of 100% DC-substituted power eliminates the effect of AC components on the bridge circuit which has been shown to introduce a substantial error in the substituted power due to the short-term time constant of some bolometer elements. Substituted DC power levels ranging from 10mW to 30mW can be measured to within ±0.003%, which also makes this an ideal instrument for insertion loss measurements. Regardless of the application, all measurements can be made directly traceable to primary voltage and resistance standards.

The Model 1804 Type IV RF Power Meter is designed to bias either 100 or 200 ohm mounts and is thus compatible with Aligent (HP) thermistor mounts and the TEGAM Model 1110, 1111, 1118, and 1120 Terminating Series RF Transfer Standards (refer to applicable data sheets for mount specifications). A front panel switch selects the operating resistance for the power meter. Each power meter has a bolometer current meter and fault LED indicator that illuminates under any condition preventing loop balance. Terminals are provided for an external DVM, negative bolometer, and voltage sense. Dimensions are 9.84 in (250.00 mm) W x 3.37 in (85.61 mm) H x 10.24 in (260.00 mm), and weight is 6 lb (2.72kg).

AVAILABILITY AND PRICING. The Model 1804 Single Type IV RF Power Meter list price is $3,500 and is available now.
