Press Release Summary:
Traceable to standard laboratory calibration, Model 3A-P-THz can measure short pulse or CW lasers in 0.1-10 THz wavelength range, optical power from 60 µW to 3 W, and energy from 20 µJ to 2 J. Design of sensor's p-type absorber maximizes performance across entire spectral range. Device works with all Ophir smart displays or PC interfaces, including Orion PE, Nova, Nova II, Vega, LaserStar, USBI, Pulsar, and Quasar.
Original Press Release:
Ophir Photonics Announces New Power/Energy Sensor for Measuring at THz Wavelengths
Logan, Utah - Ophir Photonics, the global leader in precision laser measurement equipment, today announced the 3A-P-THz THz Power/Energy Sensor. The 3A-P-THz is is designed to measure THz light sources from very low power to very high power, up to 3W, 30x the power levels of competing products. In addition, it is the only power/energy sensor on the market that is traceable to standard laboratory calibration. A standard sensor head, the 3A-P-THz is less expensive than traditional systems and is compatible with all Ophir meters and PC interfaces.
The 3A-P-THz is the only power/energy meter to have been calibrated to read THz radiation at the PTB national metrology institute in Germany. It measures short pulse or CW lasers in the 0.1 to 10THz wavelength range. The sensor's p-type absorber provides a larger aperture and flatter spectral response than most similar devices, maximizing performance across the entire spectral range. Optical power can be measured from 60µW to 3W, and energy from 20µJ to 2J.
"Existing THz detectors provide a limited range of capabilities," stated Ephraim Greenfield, CTO, Photonics Group, Ophir-Spiricon. "The 3A-P-THz is the first to provide high power readings that are 30 times the level of existing sensors. It is also the first to provide traceable calibration that ensures high accuracy and reliability when measuring THz sources."
The 3A-P-THz power/energy sensor works with all Ophir smart displays or PC interfaces, including the Orion PE, Nova, Nova II, Vega, LaserStar, USBI, Pulsar, and Quasar. Each display features a "Smart Connector" interface that automatically configures and calibrates the display when plugged into one of the company's measurement heads.
