Additional Information

IBM Distributed Power Interconnect PDU

This high-density PDU is ideal for extending and enhancing the levels of availability while supporting even the most power-demanding servers. While primarily designed for xSeries servers, it also supports mid-range and high-end server products. It is a rack-based product that can:

o Speed installation
o Save money
o Decrease amount of cabling required
o Increase solution management

The new DPI PDU replaces the current PDUs. The new models also deploy the same modular approach to power distribution as current PDUs. These new models contain connector linking components rather than country-specific hard-wired line cords. They are built on the ideas of the IBM Interconnect Rack Architecture. They are usable worldwide and are far advanced from the competition in setup, ease of installation, and scalability.

Product Positioning

The IBM DPI products feature:

o Customer-friendly alternatives to currently available PDUs
o Power distribution products that extend and enhance levels of availability and support even the most power-demanding servers
o Competitive advantage with ease of setup and scalability
o Supports enterprise server line; low-end to high-end

This family of parts will replace the current NetBAY Modular PDUs relatively quickly as these products have function and cost benefits over the older parts. Only a few of the older NetBAY modular style PDUs will remain in the business after July, 2003. These include dual cord models and the three-phase products.
