Emerson Network Power Announces Availability of Liebert FPC Power Center

That Creates a Packaged Power Distribution Solution for Growing IT Operations

The solution is one of several new offerings that will be on display at Emerson's AdaptiveXchange 2006(TM), October 18-19 in Columbus, Ohio

Columbus, Ohio [September 15, 2006] - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), today made available the Liebert FPC power center to provide higher quality, more flexible power distribution in high density data centers and computer rooms. Available in capacities from 15kVA to 300kVA, the Liebert FPC also features local and remote power monitoring capabilities.

Based on the proven design of the Liebert Precision Power Center, the self-contained Liebert FPC is designed to work with the Liebert FDC distribution center, which was introduced in April 2005, to provide a distribution system with plug-and-play flexibility that closes the power loop in critical IT operations. It combines the convenience and cost savings of a prepackaged, factory-tested unit with the flexibility of a custom-tailored power system. This packaged system approach reduces installation time and cost compared to a conventional approach using multiple interconnected components.

"As rack-mount systems grow in number, complexity and criticality it's important that the power distribution system grows as well," said Bill Barcus, Liebert FPC product manager at Emerson Network Power. "Delivery of critical power from the UPS to servers and switches is a key element of system availability. The Liebert FPC provides the same high-availability as previous generation power distribution systems, but with much greater flexibility."

Ranging in capacity from 15kVA -300kVA, the Liebert FPC comes in two sizes that are designed to fit at the end of, or within, a row of racks. The 15-125kVA is in a standard 19-inch rack, while the 150-300kVA is in a 47-inch cabinet, the size of two 19-inch racks.

The Liebert FPC can be used in stand-alone applications or in conjunction with the Liebert FDC distribution center to create a tiered power distribution system that can scale to accommodate increasing equipment density. Features include compact space saving design, flexible breaker configurations, and full front and rear access. The Liebert FPC has also undergone thorough factory testing as a complete system to assure reliable, consistent performance.

Emerson's Liebert FPC power center is part of the Liebert Managed Power product line, a group of power distribution and switching systems designed to manage power from the UPS all the way to each individual piece of computing and communications hardware.

AdaptiveXchange (http://AX.liebert.com), formerly called Incredible Universe, attracted more than 2,000 IT, facility and data center managers to Columbus in 2004. This year's event features expanded participation from technology manufacturers Cisco, Dell, Hewlett Packard and Sun; 89,000 square feet of exhibit space showcasing simulated data center, computer room, telecommunications and remote network environments; and, 48 technical sessions. The event will also showcase new technologies and services surrounding high-density blade-server cooling, high availability power protection and distribution, proactive performance monitoring, and more.
