'Unchained' Power Belt Curve Conveys Oversize Products
UNION., NJ - The belt chain cover in traditional belt curve conveyors prevents moving products wider than the belt. But PSC Flo-Turn's new Flatop series dispenses with the chain cover altogether. That allows it to convey the occasional oversize product, as long as its center of gravity stays on the belt.
Instead of a chain, the Flatop series employs a series of lagged end pulleys to drive the belt. That, along with simplified fabrication techniques, says PSC Flo-Turn, allows it to offer a long-life, low-maintenance curve at about half the price of competitive units and comparable in cost to roller curves. Also, the company says, the belt curve will deliver daily in-use savings especially with small products, products where positive orientation is critical, or where downtime due to jamming is extremely costly or disruptive.
PSC Flo-Turn offers the Flatop series in belt widths up to 48", which at a ninety-degree turn can move products at speeds of up to 400 feet per minute. Stainless steel construction, bed relief rolls for higher load capacity, and other options are available.
