Overview

IBM is pleased to announce the next generation of IBM SurePOS(TM) 700 - the SurePOS 780, 740, and 720. With this introduction, the SurePOS 4694 series of point-of-sale (POS) products and SurePOS 700 series of products merge into a single product line. These enhanced models offer outstanding performance, growth, investment protection, and flexibility. There are three levels of performance, with the new models tailored for Performance, Value, and Entry, respectively.

A controller model will also be introduced, the C41. This SurePOS 740 model is tailored for use as a controller. It includes memory upgrade and hard drive in the standard offering as well as an IBM 104-key preferred pro full-size keyboard (PS/2®).

The new SurePOS 700 offers maximum flexibility and investment protection through SurePorts exchangeable and upgradeable POS ports. The selectable ports offer options for RS-485 peripherals as well as powered USB peripherals. In addition to the selectable ports, the new POS system comes with a number of fixed standard PC ports including Parallel, PS/2 Keyboard, PS/2 Mouse, RS-232, Standard USB, audio (Microphone, Line-in, Headphone), SVGA, and built-in 10/100 Ethernet.
