A new, portable instrument that measures and records shock over a user defined interval to see whether something was hit or dropped during shipment, assembly, and production, or to validate the operation of drilling equipment, is being introduced by MadgeTech, Inc. of Warner, New Hampshire.
The MadgeTech SHOCK101 Tri-Axial Shock Recorder is a stand-alone instrument that measures and records shock as peak acceleration levels over a user defined interval and can be started and stopped directly from a computer. Suitable for a wide variety of applications, this 9 V battery powered instrument measures only 1.0" x 3.5" x 4.4", weighs 15 oz., and can be mounted anywhere it is desirable to log maximum shock and when it occurred.
Featuring Windows® based software that lets a user easily collect, display, and analyze data, the MadgeTech SHOCK101 Tri-Axial Shock Recorder has a serial interface and is compatible with a Palm Pilot®. Sampling at 500 Hz (two milliseconds), it stores peak value for a selected interval from eight readings/second to one reading/hour and stores 43,690 readings per channel.
The MadgeTech SHOCK101 Tri-Axial Shock Recorder is priced at $ 599.00. A model which records pressure, humidity, and temperature is also offered.
