Datakey Electronics Introduces Low-Cost Portable Memory Tokens for Medical Device Applications - Autoclave and EtO Sterilization Resistant

May 23, 2005. Savage, MN - Datakey Electronics, Inc., manufactures rugged, re-programmable memory Keys and Tokens for the medical device industry. The standard SlimLine(TM) Token products are now being built with enhanced materials that allow them to withstand Autoclave and EtO Sterilization. This material enhancement simplifies the manufacturing process and provides a less expensive product to Medical OEMs while still retaining the multiple-cycle sterilization capability that have made custom versions of these products popular within the Medical Device community for years.

Typical applications for Datakey Electronics' portable memory products include: "limit-use", calibration data upload, firmware updates, data transfer, data logging, user authentication, access control, and more.

The enhanced SlimLine Token products have already been tested to survive many cycles of autoclave sterilization (265˚ at 20 psi for 30 minutes ) as well as the EtO sterilization process. Further testing is ongoing, and no failures due to these sterilization methods have been demonstrated.

Datakey Electronics has recently expanded the mating SR4000 SlimLine Token Receptacle family to provide both miniaturized receptacles and surface-mount designs - especially suitable for portable medical applications. The SR4000 receptacle family development is continuing with splash-proof receptacles to address various medical devices' needs.

Datakey Electronics will be exhibiting at the Medical Design and Manufacturing Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, June 13 - 15 (booth 1562). These new, cost-effective, sterilization-resistant portable memory products will be displayed in the booth. All versions are currently available for sale.
