New USB-based Portable Data Acquisition Module
New low-cost Personal Daq/54 measures volts and thermocouples in one compact and portable module
CLEVELAND, OH, February 1, 2005 - IOtech has introduced the Personal Daq/54(TM) portable USB data acquisition module, offering 10 single-ended or 5 differential voltage or thermocouple input channels. Unlike other low-cost USB data acquisition devices, the Personal Daq/54 provides 500V isolation between analog inputs and the USB port and PC.
The Personal Daq/54 is designed for high accuracy and resolution, including a 22-bit A/D converter and a 20V maximum input range, making it particularly well suited for
in-vehicle measurement applications with 12V power systems.
A single cable to the PC provides high-speed communication and power to the Personal Daq/54 - no additional batteries or power supplies are required in most applications. If the USB port does not supply adequate power, which is rare but possible with older USB ports, then the Personal Daq/54 can be powered from an external 9 to 30 VDC source.
Also provided on the Personal Daq/54 are 16 programmable voltage ranges, programmable on a per-channel basis. Built-in cold junction compensation allows any thermocouple type to be attached to any channel. Convenient, removable screw terminals make it easy to attach voltage and thermocouple signals without the need for special connectors. Any combination of voltage or thermocouple inputs can be combined in one Personal Daq/54, eliminating the need to purchase two modules to make both measurements, as is the case with other USB devices on the market.
Software Support
The Personal Daq/54 is supplied with Personal DaqView(TM), IOtech's Windows®-based data logging application that allows you to set up your acquisition applications and save acquired data directly to disk. eZ-PostView(TM), a post-acquisition application that permits you to display acquired data previously saved to a file, is also included. For users who wish to use other software applications, IOtech includes support for Visual Basic® and C/C++ for Windows®, LabVIEW®, and DASYLab®.
