FARO Debuts Affordable 'Advantage(TM)' Line of Measurement Products

Lake Mary, Fla. - September 4, 2003 - FARO Technologies, Inc., fortified its position as the market-share leader in the portable coordinate measurement machine (CMM) field with its latest product line: the "Advantage" Series. The Advantage FaroArm and the FARO Advantage Tracker will be the Company's most inexpensive CMMs, with prices in the USA starting at only $19,900 and $69,900, respectively.

"We're known for having the highest accuracy and the longest range, but some manufacturers don't need the two-tenths [.0002" precision of our Platinum FaroArm or the 230-foot range of our Tracker SI," said FARO President and CEO Simon Raab. "What they do need is a cost-efficient means of improving quality. FARO has always done that, and now the FARO Advantage Series does it for even less."

The Advantage FaroArm retains the ergonomics and portability of the Company's Platinum and Titanium FaroArms, and is ideal for applications with lower tolerance requirements. It comes ready to measure with a mounting plate, one 3mm and two 6mm Zircon hard probes, custom-fitted case and a one-year standard warranty, and can be customized to the client's exact needs.

According to FARO Hardware Product Manager Shaun Mymudes, "The Advantage line caters to shops that recognize the value of a basic CMM. They want the power to perform advanced measurements, CAD-to-part comparisons and reverse engineering, and now they can do so within a tight budget - but without sacrificing quality."

The FARO Advantage Tracker makes laser measurement affordable to a greater number of facilities. It has the same remote control, Voice Command System and mounting flexibility (horizontal vertical or even upside down) as its top-of-the-line counterpart, and has a range of approximately 165 feet. Despite it's low price, the Advantage Tracker has a high accuracy of 72 microns at approximately 20 feet.

Both the Advantage FaroArm and Advantage Tracker are available as complete Advantage Measurement Systems, which includes the Company's CAM2 Measure metrology software and laptop computers equipped with 2 gHz Pentium 4 processors.
