Elma's Portable Chassis Ideal for CompactPCI, PICMG 2.16 Development
FREMONT, California, Nov. 6, 2003 - Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has announced a new 8-slot CompactPCI portable tower, with PICMG 2.16 backplane options. The versatile unit offers a wide range of options for various applications and has several key features.
The 8-slot Type 32 cPCI chassis is 17" high x 10.5" wide. It features 2 x 5.25" HH devices and a 350 W plug-in power supply with an option for dual redundancy. The unit is specifically designed for portable use and is geared toward protection from the wear-and-tear these units often face. The vinyl clad aluminum covers are scratch-resistant. An ergonomic handle allows for easy and comfortable portability. Also, rubber-soled feet prevent the chassis from marring or scratching desktops.
Like all Elma Type 32 cPCI chassis, the 8-slot features an option for Elma's patented EMI spoons to ensure EMC compliance. Cooling is achieved via a 90 CFM fan on the bottom of the unit. The chassis also has rear I/O and system monitoring options.
For PICMG 2.16 configurations, backplanes are available in 8-slot sizes with either one or two fabric slots, and with or without H.110 Computer Telephony implementation. In the standard 8-slot cPCI backplane configuration, power bugs for 3.3V, 5V, +/- 12V and V I/O are conveniently located along the side of the backplane.
