Portable Analyzer alerts user of chemical agents.

Press Release Summary:

Based on Open Loop Ion Mobility Spectrometry, Multi-IMS Analyzer detects, identifies, and measures chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals/materials. Upon alarm, pictorial icon is accompanied by threat scale of low/medium/high showing relative dosage measurement. Alarm limits are devised to alert for pre-programmed chemicals and compounds in low concentrations. Internal data-logger automatically records all measurements.

Draeger Safety, Inc. Introduces the New Multi-IMS

February 25, 2004 - - Pittsburgh, PA - - Draeger Safety Inc. introduces the new Multi-IMS Analyzer, a truly portable analyzer designed to detect, identify, and measure a wide variety of chemical warfare agents (CWA) and toxic industrial chemicals / materials (TICs / TIMs). These gases and vapors are
continuously measured with detection limits below the established limit values.

This sensor technology is based on the field-proven Open Loop Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) that provides improved sensitivity and selectivity. The internal sample pump provides quick responses and recovery times. The Open Loop design requires no routine replacement of the molecular sieve packs
making it more cost effective and the ionization source never needs a wipe test for a virtually maintenance free unit. The Draeger Multi-IMS is a more reliable and lower maintenance method of measuring chemical warfare agents.

The large LCD readout provides a bar graph scale, identification of the agent and alarm indications. Large pictorial icons show whether the substance is a chemical warfare agent or toxic industrial chemical. Upon alarm, the icon is accompanied by a "threat scale" of low / medium / high showing the relative dosage measurement. Alarm limits are devised to alert for pre-programmed chemicals and compounds in low concentrations. Both audible and visual alarms are included on the Multi-IMS. All operations are performed with three large buttons on the face of the analyzer.

The analyzer is small, lightweight and very ergonomic. The robust polymer housing is rugged enough for the most demanding situations and missions. The Multi-IMS meets military specifications for vibration, shock and electro-magnetic interference. The analyzer performs an automatic self-test every time it is turned on to ensure reliable operation. An internal data-logger automatically records all measurements
for documentation purposes.
