Polyurethanes produce protypes quickly.

Press Release Summary:

Parts-In-Minutes(R) polyurethanes are suitable for rapid production of prototypes and short-run parts. RP 6489 R/H is formulated to produce tough parts with polypropylene-like characteristics. It has heat deflection temperature of 185 deg F, nearly 200,000 psi flexural modulus, and can be demolded in less than 30 min. RP 6488 R/H for vacuum-casting machines performs like polyethylene and polyolefins. Three beta products are also available for testing.

Vantico Introduces Five New Polyurethanes

Products Designed for Molding Polypropylene-like, ABS-like and Vacuum-cast Prototypes

EAST LANSING, Mich., April 29, 2002 - Five new Parts-In-Minutes(R) polyurethanes for rapid production of prototypes and short-run parts via automated mixing/dispensing and vacuum casting were introduced today by the RenShape(R) Solutions Tooling Group of Vantico A&T US Inc., at the Rapid Prototyping & Manufacturing 2002 Exposition in Cincinnati.

RP 6489 R/H Parts-In-Minutes polyurethane is formulated to produce tough parts with polypropylene-like characteristics. It features a combination of high-impact strength and a high heat deflection temperature (185deg F/85deg C) with a nearly 200,000 psi flexural modulus, making it ideal for producing prototypes for crash testing as well as short-run functional parts. The Parts-In-Minutes polyurethane can be demolded in less than 30 minutes. A slightly longer pot life version for large parts will be available for beta-testing in June.

Also introduced for beta-testing are two ABS-like Parts-In-Minutes polyurethanes that exhibit a high flexural modulus and a heat deflection temperature of about 212 deg F (100 deg C) for molding durable prototypes and short-run parts.

The fifth new polyurethane, RP 6488 R/H, is Vantico's first product developed for use with the MCP line of vacuum-casting machines that will be distributed by Vantico in North America beginning June 1, 2002. The Parts-In-Minutes material performs like polyethylene and other polyolefins with a combination of extremely high impact strength (5 ft-lb./in.), a 200 deg F (93 deg C) heat deflection temperature and a 95,000 psi flexural modulus. It features a 15-minute work life and eight-hour demold time for producing large parts. If desired, parts can be cured at 120 deg F (49 deg C) to reduce demold time to one hour.
