Point Level Sensor withstands harsh environments.

Press Release Summary:

Model NR60 monitors minimum or maximum levels of liquids by detecting changes in electrical capacitance in field surrounding probe. Featuring brass housing and solid-state electronics, unit withstands 50 g mechanical shock, 25 g vibration, immersion, and temperatures to 125°C. Sensor accepts input voltage from 9-36 Vdc. One amp transistor output may be configured for ON or OFF, MIN or MAX switching. Sensor is suited for liquids with dielectric constants of 1.5-85.

E-T-A Lowers Cost of Liquid Level Monitoring in Heavy-Duty Applications

Chicago-October 6, 2003-E-T-A Circuit Breakers, a leading manufacturer of circuit protection and control products, announced the NR60, the newest member in its line of heavy-duty point level sensors. Available from stock, and costing less than many competitive products, the NR60 is designed for liquid level sensing in manufacturing process controls or OEM applications.

The NR60 level sensor offers durability in harsh environments through its brass housing and solid-state electronics. Designed to withstand 50g (11ms) mechanical shock, 25g vibration (2700 to 5000 Hz), immersion (protection up to IP69), and temperature up to 125 degrees C (257 degrees F), it is suitable for rugged applications such as oil and coolant monitoring in diesel engines, power generators, and marine equipment. For added long-life, its brass housing may be ordered with optional nickel plating.

The NR60, point level sensor, monitors minimum or maximum levels of liquids. It detects changes in electrical capacitance in a field surrounding the probe. Because the device has no moving parts, it eliminates the chance of jammed reed contacts or stuck floats, which are possible with other sensor technologies. Unlike reed sensors, the NR60 level sensor has lasting durability; unlike float sensors, it never requires maintenance.

For design flexibility, the NR60 level sensor accepts input voltage ranging from 9 to 36 VDC. The 1A transistor output may be configured for either ON or OFF, MIN or MAX switching. In contrast to some other level sensors, it can switch either positive or negative lines. The NR60 is CE compliant and is protected against short-circuits and overloads. Few competing products offer this amount of electrical protection.

The NR60 is suitable for a wide range of liquids with dielectric constants of 1.5 to 85, including water, oil, and fuel. It is available with a 7 second built-in delay which eliminates false signals that result from liquid sloshing, or is available without delay for process control applications.

Available in ¼- to 3/8- inch threadneck sizes, and with quick-connect terminals or optional IP69K cable, this compact product allows for fast and easy installation.

Price and Availability
The NR60 is available from stock at prices starting around $72 in OEM quantities. For information about the different NR60 products, consult the E-T-A catalog, visit the
