Press Release Summary:
Offered as 24-port option to accommodate high-density network deployments, PD-9524G delivers up to 60 W of power over all 4 pairs of Ethernet cabling. Integrated energy-efficient PoE (EEPoE) technology conserves power when devices that consume up to 25.5 W are deployed and maintains IEE802.at-2009 compliance. Along with gigabit interface, midspan features 2-event classification as specified in IEEE 802.3at specifications for communications with connected devices.

Microsemi Unveils 24-Port Addition to 60W Family of IEEE 802.3at-Compliant Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Midspans
Adds High-Density Option to Industry's Only 60W Solutions that Support Both New and Legacy Powered Devices While Improving Cost and Power Efficiency
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, today announced it has expanded its 60 watt (W) Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) midspan family with the immediate availability of a 24-port option that extends the benefits of four-pair powering and gigabit transmission to higher-density network deployments. Like its one-, six- and 12-port counterparts, the PD-9524G midspan delivers up to 60W of power over all four pairs of Ethernet cabling, enabling it to dissipate half the power of conventional two-pair solutions while cutting energy consumption by 15 percent.
"Microsemi's customers now have a full range of density options--from one port to 24--for delivering 60W of power to a broad range of power devices," said Amir Asvadi, vice president and general manager of the Analog Mixed Signal Group at Microsemi. "No other 60W powering option delivers the same combination of flexibility, low deployment costs and superior energy efficiency while supporting both new and legacy power devices regardless of their interface technology."
The PD-9524G midspan features the same energy-efficient PoE (EEPoE) technology used in Microsemi's recently introduced PD-5524G midspan, ideal for saving power when devices that consume up to 25.5W are deployed, while maintaining IEE802.at-2009 compliance. In addition to improving power efficiency, Microsemi's PD-95xxG midspan series also improves network deployment flexibility by enabling users to specify power devices (PDs) featuring a single interface with four-pair detection. Alternative power sourcing equipment solutions can only deliver 60W to PDs with a costly dual-PD interface, which can be prohibitively expensive especially in high-density network installations.
Like Microsemi's other 60W midspans, the PD-9524G product includes a gigabit interface to more easily support high-power devices such as pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras and thin clients. It also implements two-event classification as specified in the IEEE 802.3at specifications for communications with connected devices. All members of the PD-95xxG series family are designed to power high power network devices over Ethernet cabling, eliminating the need for wiring to external AC power sources. They also feature a proprietary power feed technology that supports all legacy PoE devices, providing the most energy efficient solution available today. Microsemi's expanded PD-95xxG family complements an extensive midspan portfolio that includes both managed and unmanaged products in a wide range of port densities.
Microsemi recently completed compatibility testing for its PD-9501G, PD-9506G, PD-9512G and PD-9524G midspans with a network monitor (zero client) by one of the world's leading electronics companies. The zero client includes an all-in-one LED monitor and can be used for PC-over-IP (PcoIP) cloud computing display applications. The zero client, originally designed to be powered by Universal Power-over-Ethernet (UPoE) switches, is 100 percent compatible with Microsemi's PD-95xx midspan family.
