Pneumatic Deburring Tool suits robotic applications.

Press Release Summary:

Flexdeburr(TM) 340 features floating motor and spindle arrangement that provides deburring tip's radial compliance to perform consistently on irregular part patterns. It is mounted to robot or CNC machine and requires clean, dry, filtered, non-lubricated air. Tool uses one air connection at 90 psi to spin cutting file, and second at 60 psi to apply radial force. Motor's internal governor maintains spindle speed of 40,000 rpm. Compliance force is 0.9-9.5 lb at 2-60 psi.

Original Press Release:

Radially Compliant Deburring Tool Ultimate Solution for Robotic Finishing Applications

Flexdeburr(TM) 340, a patented, radially compliant deburrng tool that satisfies 90 percent of all robotic and automated deburring applications, is available from All Industrial Automation, Apex, N.C. The deburring tool has a unique "floating" motor and spindle arrangement that provides the deburring tip's radial compliance to perform consistently on irregular part patterns. Problematical burrs, residual to most casting, extruding and machining operations, must be removed for operational, safety and aesthetic reasons. Conventional robotic deburrng tools are known to perform adequately along a straight edge or surface with little or no compliance for cavities or protrusions often prevalent in machined or cast parts. The inherent design of the pneumatically controlled Flexdeburr(TM) allows the cutting bit to accurately follow the part profile, thus maintaining a constant force of the cutting tool on the machined surface. The tool is ideally suited for removing flash and parting lines on die cast parts. The Flexdeburr(TM) has a unique air-turbine motor and spindle arrangement mounted within a housing and uses a pivot bearing to provide the radial movement. The deburring tool is an extension of ATI's Speedeburr machining tool product line. The debuirring tools are a family of patented high-speed, low-weight air tools with a floating rotary cutting file or burr used to deburr or chamfer aluminum, plastic, steel, etc. parts. Deburring Tool Details The Flexdeburr(TM) is mounted to a robot or CNC machine and requires clean, dry, filtered, non-lubricated air that can be directly vented into the workplace. The deaburring tool uses two air connections; one at 90 psi to spin the cutting file, and a second at 60 psi to apply the radial force. The motor's internal governor maintains a high spindle speed of 40,000 rpm and the compliance force is 0.9-9.5 pounds at air supply pressure of 2-60 psi. The entire tool weighs only 2.6 pounds and has an operating temperature of 41°F to 95°F For more information on Flexdeburr(TM) contact, ATI Industrial Automation, Pinnacle Park, 1031 Goodworth Drive, Apex, NC 27539, phone 919-772-0115, fax 919-772-8259, www.ati-ia.com.
