Pneumatic Actuators feature bidirectional travel stops.

Press Release Summary:

Rack-and-pinion Series 92/93 has 2 independently adjustable travel stop screws and cam on output shaft to permit bidirectional adjustment of actuator movement in open and closed positions for ¼ turn valves. Units are offered in double-acting version for rotation of 90, 135, and 180°, and spring-return version for 90° rotation. Suitable for butterfly, ball, or plug valves, actuators feature max pressure of 140 psig and temperature range of -40 to +200°F.

New Rack & Pinion Pneumatic Actuator with Bidirectional Travel Stops

Houston, TX-October 14, 2004-Bray Controls has announced the Series 92/93 rack & pinion double acting & spring return pneumatic actuator. The new actuator features two independently adjustable travel stop screws and a cam on the output shaft to permit precise bidirectional adjustment of actuator movement in both open and closed positions for quarter turn valves.

Series 92/93 actuators are rack and pinion, opposed-piston actuators available in two versions: double acting for rotation of 90°, 135° and 180°, and spring return for 90° rotation. All double acting and spring return units are suitable for both on-off and throttling applications. Their ideal use is actuating butterfly, ball or plug valves, however, they can be applied anywhere a rotation of 90°, 135° and 180° is needed. They offer a maximum pressure of 140 psig (10 Bar) and for temperature ranges of -40°F (-40°C) to +200°F (+95°C). For higher and lower temperature applications, please consult the factory.

Several advanced features in the Series 92/93 include spring return units designed with the same housing length as the double acting. This feature saves both cost and space. The spring cartridges of the Series 93 spring return unit are inherently safe, minimizing maintenance and providing simple disassembly and assembly. Rotated on low friction acetal bearings, Bray units are well suited to handle offset loads to the gear and output shaft assembly. The piston cylinder walls in the body are honed to a very fine finish thus reducing the overall coefficient of friction. These features extend the life of the actuator and make the Series 92/93 one of the most efficient actuators on the market. For actuators that can be actuated with other media such as hydraulic oil or water, please consult the factory for details.

Series 92/93 units additionally combine styling, strength, compactness, and simplicity of design. A focus on new engineering and precision manufacturing has resulted in a fully modular product line with reduced overall size. Bray actuators comply with ISO 5211 dimensions. Brayline Accessories and Bray Actuators both comply with VDI/VDE 3845 (NAMUR recommendations). The Series 92/93 design allows all accessories to mount directly to the actuator - providing flexibility and efficiency at reduced cost.

Other significant features include a one-piece, hardened alloy steel and zinc-plated output shaft and pinion gear for corrosion protection. The pistons are die-cast aluminum. The shaft position indicator clearly shows open or closed position and is easily removable for manual override function of the actuator. The body is extruded aluminum with anodized corrosion protective coating. The aluminum end caps are polyester powder coated for chemical resistance. This coating is resistant to dilute aqueous acids, salts, aliphatic hydrocarbons, detergents, petroleum solvents, alcohols, greases and oils.
