Agile Announces Availability of Latest Version of Agile e6, Incorporates Globalization and Customer Requirements for Complex Engineering Manufacturers

Agile e6 Enables Tighter Integration of Global Suppliers and Manufacturing Operations With Product Development and Supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005

BERLIN, Sept. 25 /-- Agile Software Corporation (NASDAQ:AGIL), a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, has announced the immediate availability of an enhanced version of its Agile e6 PLM solution. Key innovations include the internationalization of the application, focused particularly on Asia; greater intellectual property security through increased functionality around access rights; and the support of Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

"We value the input of our customers, and we share ideas on an ongoing basis about our product strategy and roadmap of Agile solutions," explains Jay Fulcher, Agile CEO and president. "These discussions, particularly those that take place through meetings of our Agile Customer Advisory Board, enable us to better prioritize and provide important enhancements that our customers see as critical. The latest version of Agile e6 was developed through this type of customer feedback, resulting in enhancements that were originally planned for the next major release."

The internationalization of the Agile e6 PLM solution will allow easier collaboration among customers and suppliers, especially in Asia. Users will be able to acquire a much greater variety of PLM data in parallel in Chinese, Japanese, and in other languages that use the Unicode character set. In this latest release, Agile is delivering enhanced functionality for assigning access rights in order to increase the protection of intellectual property (IP). Building upon the existing capabilities, where external partners access could be managed at the project level (Multi-Project Access Rights), the new offering extends this capability to include the corporate, business unit and departmental levels (Multi-Organization Access Rights) of IP security. This enhancement is especially useful for organizations that want to integrate their extensive corporate networks, consisting of design offices, suppliers and manufacturers, even more closely into their product network and development processes.

Agile continues to help companies deal with the challenge of outsourced development and manufacturing in this latest release of Agile e6. Combined with the internationalization of the application, customers will have the ability to control integration of offices or joint ventures anywhere into the corporate network. By providing these capabilities, Agile responds to the needs of many customers who are faced with the challenges of outsourcing development to Asia.

In addition to the support of Microsoft SQL Server 2003 and Oracle databases, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is now supported. The improved functions of the Microsoft database, e.g. the optimized performance and improved locking behavior, are a benefit for all Agile customers who strategically rely on SQL Server 2005.

"As a Microsoft SQL Server customer, it was very important to us that Agile has added support of SQL-Server in the latest version of Agile e6," said Martin Baumann, CAD/CAM administrator, Dieffenbacher GmbH + Co. KG. "We have already verified reliability of the database connector, and we now benefit from the optimized collaboration of the two systems. In addition, the CAD integrations for this new version of Agile e6 now supports computers with a 64-bit processors, enabling us to handle complex CAD models on our most powerful workstations, which allows us to save on our development costs."

"The new Agile e6 version has some very important enhancements to us, including improvements to configuration management and document management," said Eckhardt Dilcher, configuration manager, ARTEC GmbH. "These enhancements were key to making our decision to upgrade. We were pleased that the upgrade and implementation process was very simple, and we look forward to customizing new functions."

Agile e6, introduced in spring 2005, supports the complex engineering business processes, technology platform, and integration requirements of manufacturers in a range of industries, including aerospace and defense, automotive and industrial equipment. Agile e6 supports distributed global development teams and helps to comprehensively manage all data for complex products and machines across their product life cycles.
