PLANSEE Increases Densification Capacity with Avure Cold Isostatic Press

KENT, Washington, February 18 - Avure Technologies, Inc. announced today that its Vasteras Sweden operating unit has completed the installation and commissioning of an extremely large Cold Isostatic Press (CIP) at PLANSEE Metall GmbH. The CIP system is operating in PLANSEE's new facility in Reutte, Austria, which was formally inaugurated on October 11, 2007. This plant will support PLANSEE's growth as a global supplier of refractory metal materials, components and fabricated structures.

The new Avure CIP is almost 9 meters tall and weighs over 250 tons. It has a large work zone, measuring 1.6 meters (63 inches) in diameter and 2.6 meters (102 inch) in height. The total volume exceeds 5,000 liters. The system operates at pressures up to 2500 bar (36,250 psi). It is presently believed that this is the largest CIP ever built that operates at this high pressure.

Close collaboration and a sophisticated project management system enabled this complex machine to be installed two weeks ahead of schedule, allowing valuable extra time for training and startup. "We are very pleased with the performance of our new Cold Isostatic Press," said Wolfgang Kock, managing director of PLANSEE Metall GmbH. "In selecting Avure for this project, we considered our past 25-year business relationship and their experience in building CIPs of this scale. Avure listened carefully to our requirements and helped us to refine them into a solution that will serve our manufacturing process now and well into the future. Most importantly it was delivered and installed on time and without issues, allowing us to begin production on schedule."

"We were pleased that PLANSEE selected Avure to supply this critical CIP system and appreciative of the great cooperation that allowed this press to be built and installed under a very tight timeline," said Pat Adams, President and CEO of Avure Technologies. "It reaffirms our longstanding position as the leading provider of isostatic presses and reflects Avure's commitment to providing our customers the highest caliber technology, services and support. We are excited to have been chosen to assist PLANSEE in retaining its position as the world's leading producer of refractory metal products "
