Planning Software integrates scheduling, trim optimization.

Press Release Summary:

Greycon Suite v7.0 includes opt-Studio, which combines trim and scheduling requirements into one solution and lets users analyze trade-offs between schedule and trim efficiencies. It employs GUI pioneered with D-Opt, block optimization capabilities available in S-Plan and D-Opt, as well as trim optimization algorithmic engine of X-Trim. Also included, X-Trim supports Excel export of all grids and automatically collects/forwards interesting test cases for analysis.

Original Press Release:

Greycon Suite Version 7.0 Introduces opt-Studio, an Integrated Scheduling & Trim Optimisation Solution, Together with Faster Trim Optimisation Algorithm

LONDON -- Greycon Ltd., a world leader in supply chain optimisation for the paper, printing, film and nonwovens industries, today announced the release of Greycon Product Suite version 7.0. The new release introduces a completely new product, opt-Studio, which combines trim and scheduling requirements into a single solution, allowing users to quickly analyse trade-offs between schedule and trim efficiencies. It also adds new functionality and user-requested features to the other products in the suite, continuing their ongoing evolution.

opt-Studio is an innovative merge of the scheduling capabilities of D-Opt (now completely replaced by the new product) and X-Trim, Greycon's leading trim optimisation solution. It employs the clean but powerful graphical user interface pioneered with D-Opt, the block optimisation capabilities available in both S-Plan and D-Opt, and the same trim optimisation algorithmic engine as X-Trim.

"Plant managers now have an integrated tool that lets them optimise both time and geometry aspects of manufacturing in a single coherent solution," said Constantine Goulimis, CEO of Greycon. "opt-Studio represents a new generation of planning solutions - one that significantly increases productivity and efficiency."

Greycon Suite Version 7.0 also introduces the following key enhancements:

X-Trim Speed Improvements - The main optimisation algorithms in X-Trim (and of course now in opt-Studio) now execute up to 42% faster on problems that were previously difficult to solve.

X-Trim User Ballot Improvements -Six of the top 10 features requested by users (in a survey conducted in October 2009), including Excel export of all grids and improved out-of-the-box user configuration, are implemented in this release. The remaining 4 enhancements will be in the next release, version 7.1.

X-Trim Automatic Feedback Collection - X-Trim now automatically collects interesting test cases and, with the user's permission, forwards them to Greycon for analysis. This will aid the continuous improvement process and make the Greycon Suite more responsive to customers' real-world needs.

S-Plan - The 7.0 release includes new multi-task manipulation capability on the Gantt chart, improved visibility of trim sheets and greater sophistication in handling parallel workcentre limits.

Platform - The solution is now validated on up to 12-core servers and 64-bit operating systems.

In accordance with Greycon's commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, release 7.0 includes 137 enhancements and more than 650 bug fixes. Version 7.0 is the most stable and tested software Greycon has ever released - a direct result of Greycon's Zero-Bug Project and extensive on-site testing by pilot customers.
