Self-Averaging Pitot Flowmeter is Upgraded with New Features for Easier Installation and Wider Applications


A self-averaging pitot flowmeter, upgraded with new features for easier installation and wider application, is now available from Solartron Mobrey of Houston, Texas.

The popular KB Series averaging flowmeter sensor is now available in a new version for small pipes from .5" to 2" (12-50 mm) in diameter. Based on a patented square sensor design, the series features multiple sensing ports for high accuracy (1%) monitoring of liquid, gas and steam flows across the pipe section. More versatile and easier to install than an orifice plate, averaging pitot technology produces a much reduced pressure loss, with significant energy savings as a result.

The KB Series is used widely in flow monitoring applications such as power generation, gas transmission, water and waste processing, and HVAC. The addition of the new smaller pipe size version allows many additional general processing applications, including food and beverage manufacturing, pharmaceutical and chemical processing, and bulk materials transportation.

The upgraded KB Series is suitable for use in process temperatures of up to 752°F (400°C) and has flanges rated to ANSI 1500 lb.
