PIKA Technologies Ships 10,000th Port of Host-Based Media Processing Software

PIKA AllOnHost technology successfully deployed in both IP and TDM environments

Ottawa, Canada - January 9, 2007 - PIKA Technologies Inc., a designer and manufacturer of plug-in media processing hardware and software building blocks that enable advanced voice and fax services, today announced that customer shipments of its AllOnHost licensed voice-processing software have exceeded 10,000 ports. This milestone achievement demonstrates the accelerating market adoption of host-based media processing (HMP) technology.

Driven by the increased media-processing requirements for VoIP and other applications, host-based media processing makes use of the ever-more powerful CPUs present in host computers to enable swift and easy development of voice applications with robust voice quality at an affordable cost.

With PIKA's AllOnHost architecture, standard voice, tone and modem applications that traditionally have run only on board-based DSPs can now also run on the host without loss of quality or performance to the voice or the main application.

"HMP has definitely 'crossed the chasm' and its deployment in enterprise communications infrastructure is accelerating," said Dan Miller, senior analyst at Opus Research. "PIKA is benefiting from accelerated adoption, which is fed by enterprise adoption of services oriented architectures and network service providers' migration to the IP-Multimedia Subsystem specification."

In May 2006, PIKA released the first set of AllOnHost features in its software development kit (SDK). Since then, the company has experienced a remarkable uptake of the software from customers developing applications for both IP and TDM environments, and today passed the significant milestone of 10,000 ports shipped. Several major companies developing cutting-edge voice technologies are deploying PIKA's AllOnHost technology.

CTI Group has built a VoIP-based service called SmartRecord IP, a Web-based call-recording solution that enables service providers to deliver a superior contact center solution, and is now using PIKA AllOnHost technology for recording calls on VoIP networks.

"From the start, PIKA has been easy to work with," said Sid Rao, Chief Technology Officer, CTI Group. "Their product has accelerated our time to market. We are particularly impressed with the high performance of the AllOnHost implementation. To guarantee performance in real-time communications, they have a type of firewall in their software that partitions our call recording application from media processing, ensuring sufficient CPU capacity for both at all times."

Cintech LLC, a leading provider of customer connection technology, has built cNotify, a reliable high-volume messaging solution, using PIKA AllOnHost processing.

"Using PIKA, we were able to really simplify management and improve growth potential with the host-based processing solution," said Bryant Downey, Cintech's Chief Technology Officer. "From a scalability perspective, it is very easy to grow the capacity of this solution."

eurovoice Ltd has developed eurovoice objects, an easy-to-use, rapid application-development toolkit aimed at developers familiar with Microsoft .NET development environments, such as VB.NET and C#.NET. Compatible with PIKA's full range of board products for TDM and mixed TDM/IP networks, support for PIKA's AllOnHost technology for pure IP based solutions will soon be added.

"The addition of PIKA AllOnHost technology to eurovoice objects provides our customers with a greater choice when deploying their systems and facilitates a seamless migration from the TDM to IP world," said Martin Steer, managing director of eurovoice.
