Performance Technologies Broadens its NexusWare® Carrier Grade Linux Software Distribution Across Entire Product Line

Support for x86 and PowerPC® single board computers represent significant additions to the CGL 3.2-registered operating system and development environment

ROCHESTER, N.Y, and CHICAGO, June 19 - Performance Technologies (NASDAQ:PTIX), a leading developer of communication platforms and systems, today announced significant additions to its NexusWare® Linux-based operating system and development environment. NexusWare V12 now supports Performance Technologies' wide range of single board computer hardware offerings, including both x86 and PowerPC® processor architectures, and operates across the entire Performance Technologies product line. Performance Technologies is showcasing NexusWare at NXTcomm 2007.

With NexusWare V12, Performance Technologies provides a common, pre-integrated Linux operating system and development environment for its entire line of embedded products: single board computers, voice processing, TDM and sync serial communications, storage, switching and system management hardware components. Equipment manufacturers can leverage a single-source for pre-integrated hardware and software solutions, thus shortening time-to-market and eliminating costly and unnecessary integration steps.

The enhanced NexusWare is built on the 2.6.20 Linux kernel and conforms to OpenHPI, an open source implementation of the Service Availability Forum's Hardware Platform Interface (HPI). It is one of the only Linux distributions to be Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) 3.2 registered, meeting a set of essential Linux capabilities for performance, high availability, security and reliability and making it an attractive alternative to higher priced proprietary operating systems. NexusWare V12 is CGL 4.0 ready and is anticipated to be one of the first Linux distributions registered to meet these rigorous requirements.

"NexusWare enables customers using our industry-leading application-ready platforms and blade products to get to market faster and more cost-effectively," said John Grana, senior vice president and general manager of Performance Technologies' Embedded Systems Group. "NexusWare is pre-integrated with our hardware, reducing the need for resources that customers normally commit to test an application design project. The integration of other software solutions with hardware also becomes more straightforward. This type of fully-integrated solution is why customers choose to work with us to bring their mission-critical applications to market ahead of their competitors."

"Consolidation in the telecom and aerospace/defense industries is causing many systems vendors to reduce internal resources needed to integrate hardware and software offerings," said Keith Nissen, Principal Analyst with In-Stat. "Performance Technologies provides a valuable service to the industry and eliminates this major pain point for customers by offering a quality, pre-integrated solution such as NexusWare."

Combining NexusWare with Performance Technologies' hardware provides equipment manufacturers and system integrators with a powerful enabling solution for creating applications including media gateways, managed WAN gateways, voice over IP (VoIP), lawful intercept, radar servers, wireless and IMS infrastructure equipment, high availability communications systems, monitoring solutions, TDM switches and signaling gateways. With the optional installable packages NexusWare supports, customers can take advantage of protocol packages including MTP2, SIP, HDLC, Frame Relay and X.25.

The NexusWare V12 release is immediately available with CGL 4.0 registration pending. For more information, visit www.pt.com/ or contact Performance Technologies at sales@pt.com.
