Pentadyne DC Flywheel Power System Earns CE Marking, Opening Door to Expanded Sales and Distribution in Europe

Chatsworth, Calif.--November 1, 2005--Pentadyne Power Corporation announced that its advanced VSSdc flywheel power system was recently granted the "CE Marking" that demonstrates compliance with relevant European Union health, safety and environmental directives. The highly sought after CE Marking ensures the exportability and free movement of any CE-marked product between the 25 member states comprising the European Union. An independent testing laboratory, TUV Rheinland Group, validated the compliance of the Pentadyne VSSdc with the 98/37/EEC Machinery and 89/336/EEC Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) directives.

"Earning our CE Mark takes Pentadyne a giant step closer to becoming a leading supplier of environmentally friendly back-up power solutions for the European commercial and industrial facility market," said Flint Craig, President and CEO of Pentadyne Power Corporation. "The growth opportunities and sales channel partnerships arising from CE compliance will expand our horizons, and make Pentadyne an emerging player in markets we have long sought to enter," he said.

The Pentadyne VSSdc Flywheel Power System provides a stable, reliable, low maintenance, extended-life DC voltage source for UPS systems. The VSSdc can completely eliminate the need for batteries in UPS applications by providing sufficient ride-through for short duration outages or until a standby engine generator can come on line. When connected to most UPS models, a single VSSdc unit provides sufficient energy and power capability to support loads up to 225 kVA, depending on the back-up time required. Multiple VSSdc units in parallel provide economic ride-through for power levels up to 2 MW.
