Raritan Expands Data Center Power Management Portfolio

New Metered PDUs join Raritan's Switched and Intelligent PDU products for monitoring and managing data center power resources

SOMERSET, N.J., July 15 / -- Raritan today introduced a new brand of metered Power Distribution Units (PDUs) for managing power in data center racks. The new Raritan PM(TM) Series of Ethernet metered rack PDUs monitor the power load on the PDU in real time, and provide advanced warning to protect against potential circuit overloads that can affect IT equipment and interrupt service.

PDU-level power information is displayed at the rack on the PM Series PDU's LED, and remotely through a Web browser GUI or command line interface. The Raritan PM Series PDU's metering capabilities are also helpful for balancing electrical loads between circuits and in planning server build outs.

Today's introduction of the PM Series of Ethernet metered rack PDUs to Raritan's power management portfolio -- which includes intelligent and switched PDUs -- provides more choices for customers to meet various power applications driven by high-density blade and cloud computing. The PM Series of rack PDUs comes in ZeroU and 2U form factors and with a wide variety of NEMA and IEC plugs and receptacles. Several three-phase models are available. Certifications include UL and cUL Listed 60950 and RoHS.

Raritan's intelligent PDUs -- the Dominion® PX -- provide rack-level and outlet-level remote power monitoring and management, plus environmental monitoring capabilities. They also provide remote power cycling and 256-bit-AES-encryption-based security. Raritan's switched Rack PDUs -- the RPC Series -- are ideal for situations when there are unresponsive devices and rebooting is the only way to restore service. Raritan's switched PDUs support remote power on/off and power recycling control of individual outlets. Both the Dominion PX and RPC Series can be tightly integrated with Raritan's KVM-over-IP and serial-over-IP out-of-band console management appliances.

"Our three power management product lines are designed to help IT administrators know more and manage smarter, thereby improving data center productivity," said Herman Chan, Director of Raritan's Power Management business unit. "The increasing power demands on today's higher-density computing environments are creating demand for a variety of power management solutions. Our power solutions are designed to help IT administrators and facilities managers improve uptime, make capacity planning decisions, efficiently utilize energy in ways that save power and money and take steps towards green computing."

The new metered rack PDUs are currently available in North America. List prices start at $575. More information on these products, and Raritan's complete line of power management products, can be found at www.raritan.com/solutions/power-management/ .
