Tundra Semiconductor Broadens PCI Product Portfolio with Launch of High-Performance 32bit PCI-to-PCI Bridge

Tundra Tsi350(TM)Targets 32bit PCI Bus Bridging Applications

OTTAWA, Aug. 14 -- Tundra Semiconductor Corporation (TSX: TUN), the leader in System Interconnect, today announced availability of the Tundra Tsi350, a 32bit PCI-to-PCI Bridge. The Tsi350 is an industry standard, low power 32bit 66MHz asynchronous PCI-to-PCI bridge that is competitively priced and targets new designs or existing board footprints using standard 32bit 66MHz PCI-to-PCI bridges. Fully compliant with PCI Local Bus Specification Revision 2.3, the device has sufficient clock and arbitration pins to directly support nine PCI bus master devices for a wide range of applications including communications and networking equipment, multi-function printers, imaging systems and embedded video recorders.

The launch of the Tsi350 follows Tundra's recent acquisition of assets of the Systems Solutions Business Unit of Alliance Semiconductor Corporation ("Alliance SSBU"). The addition of the Tsi350 expands Tundra's portfolio of proven, high-performance, low-cost PCI and PCI-X bridges. Features of the Tsi350 include:

- Two 32-bit 66-MHz capable PCI interfaces.
- Support for up to nine PCI bus masters on the secondary interface.
- 10 independent secondary clock outputs to the secondary slots.
- Primary and secondary interfaces can be operated using asynchronous clocks.
- Secondary clock can either be derived from the input primary clock or supplied by an external clock source.
- Secondary clocks can be masked through GPIO interface during power up.

"By acquiring and bringing the Tsi350 to market, we are ensuring the highest quality performance and most reliable supply chain for our PCI bridge customers," said Rick O'Connor, chief technology officer at Tundra Semiconductor. "We are offering customers greater choice. Competitively priced, the Tsi350 offers low power backed by Tundra's world-class customer support and service."

Broadening Tundra's PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express(R) Bridge Portfolio

In May 2006 Tundra acquired the assets of the Alliance SSBU. The acquisition included intellectual property and several products both in production and under development, including the Tsi350 (formerly the AS90L10150). In addition to the immediate benefit of a broader product offering by adding PCI Express(R), HyperTransport(TM) and PCI bridge products, Tundra gained two highly experienced and innovative teams in Santa Clara, CA and Hyderabad, India. The launch of the Tsi350 is the first step of a long-term strategy and momentum behind the Tundra PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express Bridge portfolio.

"As a result of the Alliance SSBU acquisition we are building momentum behind our System Interconnect Bridge portfolio," added O'Connor. "Anchored by the additional PCI and HyperTransport engineering expertise of the Hyderabad design team and the benefit of the newly acquired products and IP, we have created a positive combination that uniquely positions Tundra to rapidly develop and deliver a market-leading PCI Express(R) product portfolio in the short-term."

Availability and Design Support Tools

The Tsi350 32-bit PCI-to-PCI Bridge is now sampling and will be in full production in October 2006. Volume pricing is under $8.00USD in 1K quantities. The device is produced in 31 mm x 31 mm 208-PQFP and 256 PBGA packages. The bridge is drop-in, pin-for-pin and software compatible with industry standard PCI bridges. The device is 3.3 V I/O and 5 V tolerant. For more information on product features and benefits, go to tundra.com/tsi350.

About Tundra PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express(R) Bridges

The Tundra PCI and PCI-X System Interconnect portfolio offers customers a wide range of proven, high performance, low-power PCI and PCI-X bridges. Tundra's PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express bridge roadmap reflects an investment and commitment to addressing current and future needs of PCI-based designs. To allow interoperation with new PCI Express(R) root complexes and legacy PCI/X endpoints, Tundra will offer PCI Express to PCI/X bridges. The PCI/X/e bridge family will continue to grow with variants that offer system designers numerous I/O connectivity options. In addition, Tundra's leadership and market expertise in other interconnects such as RapidIO(R) will be critical to the seamless integration of different standards into new architectures based around high speed serial system interconnects.
