Carlsbad, CA - March 12, 2002 - SBS Technologiesg (Nasdaq: SBSE) today introduced the PMC-Gigabit-ST2, a single-wide PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) with a single Gigabit Ethernet interface controller port that relieves bandwidth bottlenecks and allows for rapid incorporation of Gigabit Ethernet technology into high-performance CompactPCI systems.
The Ethernet network interface complies with the IEEE 802.3 specification for l0BaseT, l00BaseTX and 1000BaseT over category 5 twister-pair cable. A 64 KB FIFO buffer memory allows back-to-back transmissions with minimal interface latency. The PMC-Gigabit-ST2 also features a l0BaseT, 100BaseTX and 1000BaseT auto-detection CSMA-CD interface controller.
Compliant with standard single-wide PMC IEEE P1386.1 and PCI 2.2 specifications, the 64-bit PMC-Gigabit-ST2 addresses a diverse range of markets including industrial automation, semiconductor
processing, medical, server and enterprise, data communications, LAN/WAN and telecommunications.

The Intel 82544 PCI controller provides a single chip solution. The integrated MAC/PHY interface supports a number of sophisticated features including auto-negotiates, collision detection, link detection, 4B/5B encoding/decoding (l00BaseT), flow control, and half-duplex/full-duplex.

Drivers for VxWorks, Linux and WindowsNT are available.
