Original Press Release:

New PCI Signal Conditioning, Filter, and Instrumentation Amplifier Card Provides Flexibility For Data Acquisition

COSTA MESA, CA (February 24, 2003) - Alligator Technologies, a leading supplier of data acquisition and signal conditioning products, today introduced their new AAF-3PCI, a signal conditioning instrumentation amplifier and filter card. Extremely configurable in a wide variety of uses, the AAF-3PCI is a fully programmable 2 to 8 channel plug-n-play PCI board with optional low-pass and high-pass filters, amplifier, or amplifier/filter/band-pass combination formats, including software. The new card is compatible with all 12 or 16-bit A/D boards and is ideal for filtering applications in sound and vibration testing, ultrasonics, acoustics, structural analysis, industrial, test, scientific and laboratory data collection and applied mechanical applications in electronics, aerospace, field research, automotive, and process control industries.

The AAF-3PCI provides the user the ability to mix and match filter characteristics and independently select and program each channel's coupling (AC or DC), corner frequency, gain steps up to x1000 in either single-ended or differential measurements. Multiple AAF-3PCI boards can operate in the same PCI computer or in a standard PCI extension chassis.

Most filter products are too limiting and inflexible for many applications. As is not the case for the AAF-3PCI, each of its four channel-pairs can be configured as dual channels of 8-pole elliptic, linear pass, Butterworth or Bessel filter in any combination making the board one of the most flexible signal conditioning cards in its class.

Selectable filter characteristics are just the beginning. Each channel can be independently selected for a differential or single-ended measurement, attenuation up to 90 dB, and AC or DC coupled, all under software control. The board has four internally routed frequency sources and four external sources providing programmable corner frequency from 0.1 Hz to 200 kHz (depending on the filter characteristic of the channel-pair) for each channel-pair as well as syncing for tracking applications.

A flexible software package of menu-driven programs and drivers completes the AAF-3PCI package. Designed for ease of integration, the software includes DLL drivers that can be called form LabView, HP-VEE, DASYlab, Visual Basic, Visual C++ and other graphical and non-graphical programming environments.

The software package also includes a ready-made windows application that allows the user to quickly program all the boards' parameters with a few mouse clicks. Configurations can be saved and recalled for fast setup and execution.

Pricing and Availability

Available from stock to three weeks ARO, the AAF-3PCI is priced as low as $1,098 for two filter channels to $2,998 for 8 channels. It comes with a one-year limited factory warranty.
