Cablescan Announces Versatile PC-Based Analyzer Test Systems for High-Density Backplane and Component Verification Using Latest Industry-Standard Software Programs

Monrovia, September 29, 2003 - Cablescan has announced the expansion of its flagship line of Series 90 Analyzers, to include new test capabilities for high-density backplanes. The Series 90 is controlled by a PC running Cablescan's popular TestRite(TM) program, a Windows-based application that is compatible with Windows 98, NT, 2000, and XP operating systems. Users can quickly create test programs by scanning or "learning" a connected backplane, or by importing CAD data. TestRite can import net lists in Tango format, or wire lists in Excel, Access, and comma delimited formats.

Based on a modular, high-speed system architecture, capable of testing continuity up to 500 points per second and component testing up to 50 points per second, the Series 90 simplifies the test process for backplanes of virtually any physical size or circuit complexity, providing a cost-effective, expandable test system to meet the level of backplane and component testing required.

An extensive assortment of programmable options are available for the Series 90, allowing the customization of tester operations, test results printing, and test results storage. The Series 90 also provides multiple testing, value-added functions, including resistance and capacitance measurements, and diode testing. All Series 90 models feature a Pentium-based system controller, color monitor, keyboard, and expansion cabinetry for scanner boards (test point modules). Models are available for both low voltage and high-voltage applications.

TestRite uses Microsoft's Internet Explorer engine to display detailed setup and test instructions before and during tests. By using the IE interface; TestRite has the ability to display all browser capable formats. These include such files types as HTML for text, GIF and JPEG for graphics, and WAV for recordings to name a few. This capability enhances the integration of the Series 90 into modem manufacturing processes, while being simple to operate. Tests can be initiated with single commands, or integrated with automatic test sequence programming.

Ken Rockwell, Cablescan General Manager, stated, "The Series 90 is ideally suited for the newest emerging connector and interface technologies being applied to backplanes, particularly system tests for integrity of interfaces and board components." He added, "Our core customers are realizing significant cost-savings in the use of these systems".

In addition to backplane test application, the Series 90 incorporates build functions that can be used for chassis assembly. The build functions are designed to improve quality while increasing productivity during assembly. Using the Series 90 as a zero-defects build aid, you can view work instruction displays, including color graphics, while touching and terminating wires in either a programmed sequence or in random order with visual and audio verification of accuracy and a final test scan for the record.

Series 90 Test Systems start as low as $2,995. Special modifications and custom configurations are available to meet customer test requirements.
