PC/104 Connectors Now Available with Solder Short Tail Contacts
HARRISBURG, Pa., July 15, 2003 - Solder short tail PC/104 and PC/104-Plus connectors are now available from Tyco Electronics. Solder short tail PC/104 and PC/104-Plus connectors are for use in modules where printed circuit board stacking is not required. These new connectors can be installed via reflow soldering and do not require press-fit processing. Both the PC/104 and PC/104-Plus connectors are industry standard product offerings that comply with the interconnection requirements defined by the PC/104 Consortium (http://www.pc104.org). As an added feature, the one-piece 104-position connector eliminates the common need for two-piece (40 and 64 position) connectors in PC/104 applications.
The PC/104 connector is a small form factor connector that implements a standard ISA bus (104 positions) with two dual rows of 0.1" pitch contacts. The PC/104-Plus connector offers 120 2mm-pitch contacts in four rows. Both connector types offer a 0.6" fixed stack height. These UL 94V-0 rated thermoplastic connectors are available with optional integral board spacers which minimize assembly time and reduce the number of parts to order and inventory. The contacts are phosphor bronze and select gold plated on the mating end and tin-lead on the PCB tail.
Pricing for a short tail PC/104 and PC/104 Plus connectors at the 10,000 quantity level is approximately $5.00 per piece. Delivery is typically 3 weeks.
