Open Source Storage® Unveils Patent-Pending Vertical Patch Panel and Vertical Panel Switch for Datacenter Racks

Breakthrough 96-Port Products Support Cat-6 Cabling; Vertical Designs Save Horizontal Rack Slots, Extend Rack Capacity While Improving Airflow to Active Equipment

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 10 /-- Open Source Storage® (OSS), a leading provider of reliable, turnkey open systems storage and server solutions, today announced two new and innovative products designed to significantly improve datacenter rack efficiency. OSS' new 96-port vertical patch panel and matching vertical panel switch -- the world's first such products to run vertically on a standard 19" datacenter rack cabinet significantly increase panel connectivity and capacity while saving precious horizontal rack space for servers, storage and other networking equipment.

Open Source Storage's two new patent-pending products are Cat-6 10/100, Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet cable compliant. The patch panel, which contains a generous 96 RJ-45 cable ports, has been optimized for use in any standard rack, and can be mounted internally or externally. The panel also meets ANSI and IEEE standards for High Performance Computing (HPC) connectivity.

OSS' vertical panel switch is comprised of an active 96-port, non-blocking Layer 4 through 7 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet routing switch, configured into a thin vertical form factor. The panel switch, as well as the patch panel, facilitate airflow to cabinet componentry; both are fully field tested.

"Many of our large datacenter customers have been looking for a patch panel alternative that does not reduce the usable number of rack units available," noted Eren Niazi, President/CEO and founder of Open Source Storage, Inc. "Our new vertical panel products solve this problem while also facilitating cooling in the rack and allowing full use of the rack for servers, storage, and networking equipment."

Open Source Storage's 96-port RJ-45 vertical patch panel is priced at $995, while the vertical panel switch carries a price of $11,995. Both products are sold through direct corporate sales. For more information on these or any other OSS solution, visit osshpc.com.
