Parsons Announces Start of Wi-Fi Service on Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth Ferry Run

PASADENA, Calif., Feb. 7 - Parsons, in conjunction with Washington State Ferries (WSF), is pleased to announce that on January 17, 2008, Wi-Fi service commenced on the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route.

Aside from providing a valuable service to the ferry commuters who use this route every day, the completion of the installation makes WSF the largest marine transportation public Wi-Fi service network in the world.

"We're providing a strong and persistent Wi-Fi signal to the terminals and auto holding areas as well as to the ferries servicing the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth run," said Bob Davis, Parsons Vice President. "Providing effective coverage required a significant commitment in technical know-how, engineering manhours and equipment, and ultimately required setting up five shoreline transmitters in addition to those at the three terminals."

Other WSF Wi-Fi routes include Edmonds/Kingston, Mukilteo/Clinton, the newly improved Seattle/Bainbridge route, plus the new Seattle/Bremerton route.

Parsons is one of the largest 100% employee-owned management, engineering, and construction companies in the United States and operates Wi-Fi installations in 30 airports across the United States and Canada. Parsons also manages the world's largest railroad Wi-Fi system, providing service on VIA Rail Canada for more than 460 trains per week across a 14,000-kilometer network.

Parsons, celebrating more than 60 years of setting industry standards, is a leader in many diversified markets such as transportation, life sciences, environmental, water, construction, infrastructure, planning, commercial, industrial manufacturing, communications, healthcare, education and public buildings, critical facilities, nuclear and special materials, and homeland security.
