Pad Printing Machine suits automated handling systems.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring all-mechanical servo motor driven cam system, Elektra XE provides one-color speed of 3,500-3,900 cycles/hr. All pad and cup operations can be changed, from down stroke speed to pickup and drop off pauses. Operator instructions are sent via touch screen PLC, so no mechanical adjustments are needed to change pad stroke. One-color, 90 mm ink cup allows for 3 in. diameter image, while 2-color, 60 mm cup allows 2 in. print diameter.

Elektra To Rival The Sound Barrier (... well, not really)

EAST DORSET, VT - Ratcheting the pad printing world up another notch, Pad Print Machinery of Vermont announces the arrival of the high-speed Elektra XE - bursting onto the scene with a one-color speed of 3,500 to 3,900 cycles per hour.

Featuring an all-mechanical servo motor driven cam system, the new Elektra one or two-color machine is ideal for production line printing and automated handling systems, according to Julian Joffe, president of Pad Print Machinery of Vermont.

"The Elektra simplifies the high-speed in-line process," Joffe said. "And it's easy to synchronize with existing production systems because the operator can vary the speeds of the different operations." That makes the Elektra appropriate for a nearly infinite variety of decorating and marking applications at a competitively economical price, he added.

All pad and cup operations can be changed, from the down stroke speed to the pickup and drop off pauses - because the dual cam drive runs the pad shuttle and the ink cups separately. Operator instructions are sent via a touch screen PLC (controller,) so no mechanical adjustments are needed to change the pad stroke.

"The adjustable controls set the Elektra apart from other high-speed pad printers because it doesn't use a step motor," Joffe said. "That makes it a lot quieter too." Also, because there's no need for an air compressor, the Elektra can be used in situations where compressed air isn't available. Additionally, weighing in at a svelte 80 pounds, the table-mounted model measures only 14x21x22.5 inches. (A steel stand is available.)

For manufacturers creating a production line from scratch, the high speed Elektra will allow for speeds greater than previously possible, Joffe said, plus simplifying handling with a reduced need for multiple-up part fixturing. The one-color 90mm ink cup allows for a 3-inch diameter image; or, for a two-color image (or two-up printing) the 60mm cup allows a two-inch print diameter.
