TPACK's 40/80 Gbps Packet Transport Switch and Traffic Manager Series Now Available for Demonstration and Evaluation

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, -- TPACK (www.TPACK.com), an industry leading provider of cutting-edge silicon ICs that provide core data transport and switching functions to leading telecom and networking equipment suppliers, today announced that the TPX4000 series of Packet Transport switches is ready for demonstration and evaluation of MPLS-TP on TPACK's reference system, 'Springbank'.

With its focus on Carrier Ethernet and MPLS-TP support, the TPX4000 series addresses the emerging need for packet intelligence in Transport Networks. It includes a number of features not typically included in Ethernet switches or NPUs, such as full line speed and support of the latest OAM standards. TPX4000 addresses 40 Gbps applications. Its unique 'C2C' expansion interface allows expansion to 80 Gbps capacity. A 100 Gbps switch solution is in development.

The TPX4000 series is based upon TPACK's SOFTSILICON concept, which combines the advantages of standard ASSP chips with the flexibility of FPGA chips. This allows new functionality to be added during development and offer upgradeability to new international standards, and is at the same time a cost competitive alternative to the standard ASSP or NPU solutions.

"TPX4000 follows in the footsteps of the switch solutions we are already supplying to the market-leading system suppliers, and extends capacity and performance to new heights," explained John Jorgensen, TPACK's Vice President of Sales and Business Development. "As is the case with other members of our growing family of Packet Transport switches, the TPX4000 utilizes our innovative SOFTSILICON technology which not only provides enhanced functionality over competing ASIC-based solutions, but also delivers a lower total cost of ownership. In an industry that is on a never-ending quest to deliver higher bandwidth at lower costs, we believe the TPX4000 is the ideal solution for this ever-evolving market."

About TPX4000 Series

TPACK's TPX4000 series of 40/80 Gbps Packet Transport switches combines packet processing and traffic management in an affordable, high-performance single chip solution.

The TPX4000 series includes extensive hardware-based OAM support that allows performance measurements and protection switching of thousands of packet flows in 'SONET/SDH quality.' To optimize performance in demanding high-performance applications, the feature-rich TPX4000 series supports advanced traffic queuing, prioritization and shaping functions as well as packet based synchronization.
