OTEGlobe Selects Veraz for Next-Generation Network Migration

Integrated products offer speedy deployment and flexibility

SAN JOSE, CA -- November 14, 2007 -- Veraz Networks, Inc., a leading global provider of IP softswitch and media gateway solutions, today announced that OTEGlobe, a wholly owned subsidiary of OTE - Greece's incumbent telecommunications operator, has selected Veraz following a tender procedure for an NGN deployment spanning eight sites throughout Europe. The solution supports both legacy TDM and IP-based infrastructure allowing OTEGlobe to remain flexible in its service offerings and migrate to IP gradually over time.

OTEGlobe sells international data services, Internet capacity, telephony, collocation and other services to telecom providers on a wholesale basis. The deployment includes Veraz's ControlSwitch(TM) InterConnect softswitch as well as its I-Gate 4000 PRO and I-Gate 4000 EDGE media gateways. Veraz was selected because it is able to deploy the system according to the service provider's aggressive timetable and meet all the technical requirements of OTEGlobe.

The system offers advanced Quality of Service through dynamic routing decisions, policy enforcement and traffic prioritization. Additionally, Veraz's solution facilitates the move to direct IP peering through the support of industry standard IP signaling and control over routing and service policies. The system's integrated Border Gateway and Interconnect Border Control Function (IBCF) enables global carrier IP peering while protecting the carrier network against malicious attacks. The ControlSwitch provides the integrated IBCF and the I-Gate 4000 family of media gateways act as both a media gateway and border gateway.

"Veraz offers a powerful platform that enables us to grow our business flexibly while helping us to differentiate our service offerings, maximize revenues and reduce both capital and operational expenditures," said Dino Andreou, CEO of OTEGlobe.

"We are incredibly pleased to build upon our already successful relationship with OTE Group," said Doug Sabella, CEO of Veraz. "The deployment is a great opportunity to demonstrate how quickly and flexibly a carrier can begin a migration to IP with Veraz's ControlSwitch, while preserving existing infrastructure and improving operational efficiencies."
