Tri-Lateral, Order Picker Provides Flexibility and Increases Productivity In Very Narrow-Aisle Storage Systems

EKX 410, the newest member of the Kombi lift truck range that provides the ability to stack and retrieve full pallets or individual items from both sides of the aisle, is available from Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., Richmond. VA. The truck features a driver's cab that has a height and tilt adjustable operating console which allows the operator to effortlessly maneuver individual items or provide an unobstructed view of a full pallet. The trucks also have a patented 180-degree swing reach mast and an AC drive control that is ideally suited for use in narrow aisles and confined spaces. The trucks are found in a host of industrial and commercial applications, such as: industrial warehouses, manufacturing plants and distribution centers, among others.

The economically designed cab features a compact operating panel with a graphic display, including: battery discharge monitor, operating hour meter, key switch, emergency stop switch, clock and lift height and steering position. The cab allows the operator to stand or sit, thus providing a user-friendly work environment. Also, the open cab design provides unobstructed views of the forks, load and aisle way.
All control devices are economically positioned in the center control panel and feature a two-handed operating concept. Switch-free sensors calibrate the operator's touch and then pass the information to the onboard computer where all safety checks are verified. Each operator's touch (sensitivity) is individually adjustable.

The EKX 410 truck handles loads up to 2,200 pounds, reaches travel speeds up to 5.6 mph with load and lift speeds of 70.9 ft/min. Each EKX model also features an AC drive control with stepless, sensitive control of travel speed via MOSFET technology. The travel speed is determined by the amount of pressure applied to the throttle control switch located on the central control panel. When the switch is released, regenerative braking is activated and reclaimed energy is returned to the battery.

Powerful, 3-phase AC drive and lift motors provide the muscle to handle forklift travel and lifting requirements. Also, the AC technology extends the truck's in-service capabilities and performance.

The truck's rotating mast allows loads to be picked up and retrieved from either side of the storage aisle. End positions during side shifting and rotation of the forks are approached at crawl speeds to protect the load. For quicker storage and retrieval, side shifting and rotation can be accomplished simultaneously.

The compact truck is only 56 inches wide, even with a two-stage mast. The maximum lift height of the two-stage mast is 236 inches. The truck also features a maximum turning radius of 80 inches for optimum maneuverability.
