ORACLE OPENWORLD, SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 19 -- Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) today announced that 35 of the 50 largest companies in the world use Oracle Fusion Middleware to solve a variety of IT challenges for departmental and enterprise wide deployments. Auto Insurance Specialists (AIS), Consip, France 3, FTD, INRA, Posco, ResortQuest, Shanda Entertainment, U.S. Script and Wind River Systems represent some of the more than 26,000 customers that have selected Oracle(R) Fusion Middleware, the world's fastest growing middleware suite, due to its support for Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) and best-of-breed functionality.

AIS -- the Auto Insurance Specialists, the largest automobile insurance broker in California, leverage Oracle Fusion Middleware.

FTD.com, the Internet and telephone marketer of flowers and specialty gifts for FTD, Inc., turned to Oracle to provide a scalable and reliable middleware platform to process more than 100,000 daily order entries.

Capgemini worked with INRA to use Oracle Fusion Middleware to build a workflow for a national databank of plants genomics.

"To create a national databank of plants genomics we needed to synthesize various sources of information, be it from internal systems or partner's data banks. We selected Oracle BPEL Process Manager to create asynchronous and technical workflows with internal and external data. The fastest growing online entertainment company in China, Shanda Entertainment is using Oracle Internet Directory, a component of Oracle Identity Management to authenticate its global users.
